Uniting Colour, Sound and Emotion
In this project, I explored the concept of qualia—subjective experiences unique to each individual, such as emotions, which cannot be fully expressed through words alone. Inspired by philosopher Daniel Dennett's discussions on qualia and artist Wassily Kandinsky's synesthetic approach to art, I embarked on a journey to express my emotions using colour and sound. By tracking my daily emotions with an app, I created semantic colour maps that visually represented my feelings. These maps were then brought to life through fluid, dynamic visuals paired with carefully curated sounds to reflect the complexity and depth of each emotion. My final presentation offers a multisensory experience that provides a deeper understanding of my emotional landscape over a month.
